WESTPORT, Mass. — A fire chief was injured and transported to the hospital after falling at home Sunday.

South Coast Today reported that Fire Chief Brian Legendre will be in the intensive care unit for the next few days after falling.

Deputy Chief Allen Manley Jr. is in charge of the department in his absence.

Selectmen R. Michael Sullivan ended Monday’s city council meeting offering well-wishes to both Chief Legendre and firefighter Steven Lopes, according to the report.

Firefighter Lopes returned home on Saturday from a rehabilitation center where he had been treated for serious injuries he sustained after falling from an icy roof while battling a house fire in March, according to the report.
