This week, hosts Lt. Rom Duckworth and Chief Rob Wylie discuss why fire departments are charging its residents for rescue, hazmat and every day response calls.
"I know that fire department budgets are getting tough and tight," Lt. Duckworth said. "People are looking for new ideas, but you have to remember that a lot of these ideas are double-edged swords and they may be cutting you deeper than you want."
They also talk about ladder operations in their frontline tactical tips segment.
"Ladder operations sometimes become an afterthought," Chief Wylie said. "It has to be part of your protocols … the minute you see a hose going into a house with more than one floor, a ladder has to go up and it has to be that instinctual. You have to do it every single time."
Their leadership lessons segment explains how fire service leaders can develop a culture of safety.
