Drunk slams into fire chief’s car at crash scene

HOUSTON — Traffic piled up on the North Freeway after one crash triggered nearly a dozen others. It all started Friday around 11:45 p.m. when a driver crashed near the Cypresswood Drive entrance southbound ramp. Police said the man was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The scene was clearing around 12:15 a.m. when an orange Camaro stalled on the entrance ramp. The driver got out and started pushing the car to get it off the ramp. That is when police said a maroon colored car with two occupants came up the ramp, apparently did not see the man pushing his car and slammed into the back end, hitting the man.

The driver pushing his car was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition, and the driver of the maroon car was taken to the hospital in stable condition. The Spring Fire Department responded to reports of the second accident and parked on the shoulder of the freeway with emergency lights on.
