Mich. firefighter dies after medical emergency while driving water tender

GRANT TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A Michigan firefighter died Wednesday after losing consciousness while driving a water tender.
Grant Township Firefighter Michael Buitendorp was responding to a call about a camper fire when he experienced a medical emergency, according to WZZM 13. Buitendorp's partner managed to stop the apparatus and radio for help.
Buitendorp was transported to the hospital and attempts were made to resuscitate him, but they were unsuccessful, according to the Grant Township Fire Department. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Buitendorp is survived by his wife Anna and four children. Funeral plans are pending, according to the department.
