FDNY Foundation Receives $63,000 Donation from 5.11 Tactical Clothing Company

Brooklyn, NY - The FDNY and FDNY Foundation will receive a $63,000 donation from 5.11 Tactical Clothing on Tuesday January 24 at 2 p.m. at FDNY Headquarters at 9 Metrotech Center, Brooklyn, NY.  The donation will be split evenly with funding directed towards FDNY Fire and FDNY EMS Operations for the purposes of education, training and equipment.

"This generous donation will benefit not just the members of this Department, but also those who live and work in New York City," Fire Commissioner Salvatore J. Cassano.  "Gestures like this one show that this nation will never forget what happened on September 11th."

The California based company designed a logo in honor of the 10th Anniversary of September 11th which includes images of the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and the number 93 representing Flight 93 and the words "Never Forget".  Hats, shirts and briefcases featuring the logo were sold in 2011 on 5.11 Tactical's website, www.511Tactical.com, as well as at the FDNY Fire Zone Store located at 34 West 51st Street in Manhattan.

The FDNY Foundation is receiving two-thirds of the proceeds for the sales of these products.  The remainder of 5.11 Tactical's proceeds from sales will go to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.
