FLORISSANT, Mo. — A north St. Louis County family has been left without a home, all because firefighters were sent to the wrong house.

The fire happened on Elizabeth Court in Florissant, but firefighters were told to go to Elizabeth Court in Ferguson. By the time the confusion was cleared up, critical minutes had flown by. “Hopefully it can all be replaced,” said Tim Juch, surveying the damage to his home.

Juch said when they called 911, it was a small fire in the bathroom. But the Florissant Fire Chief said dispatchers sent crews almost 15 minutes away to the wrong address and by the time it was all straightened out, they had an inferno on their hands, flames shooting out of the windows the home.
