WAUKESHA, Wis. — Waukesha firefighters were delayed in responding to a fatal apartment fire Tuesday because of a software malfunction, WISN reported.

One resident, Kevin McQuade, 50, died Tuesday from burns. His wife, Kim McQuade, died Wednesday, also as a result of burn injuries.

Another woman suffered life-threatening injuries. Two other people jumped from the second floor and were injured but survived.

A statement from the city states that the Computer Aided Dispatch system did not alert the fire stations. The firefighters had to be alerted manually.

The city said that the software problem is being investigated.
