Harris Corporation Brings 700/800 MHz Bands to its Smaller, Lighter P7300 Radio for Public Safety and Other Mission-Critical Users

BOSTON, MA,  — Harris Corporation’s (NYSE:HRS) P7300 radio – a rugged and lighter weight multi-mode portable – is now available in the 700/800 MHz bands, offering the choice of additional frequency bands for public safety and other mission-critical users. The P7300 is a feature-rich, single-band radio that delivers end-to-end, encrypted digital voice and data communications.

The P7300 is compliant with industry-standard APCO P25. It is future-ready and software upgradeable to APCO Project 25 Phase 2, the next-generation emerging standard for mission-critical communications.

The new radio uses a high-speed, digital-signal processor and the latest RF (radio frequency) components to support multiple applications in one package. Some of these applications include Project 25 (P25) digital trunking features, P25 digital conventional, ProVoice™ digital trunking, OpenSky® trunking, EDACS, and a complete suite of analog conventional features.

“We developed the P7300 to give our customers the flexibility they need to operate in different modes and frequency bands — with a more compact radio,” said George Helm, vice president and general manager, Harris Public Safety and Professional Communications.

To meet users’ particular security requirements, the P7300 portable can be customized to include the most widely used encryption, including 256 bit AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) and 64 bit DES (Data Encryption Standard).
