ZOLL Data Systems Acquires BIO-key's Fire Safety Division to Deliver more Solutions to the Fire and EMS Industries
New RescueNet™ FireRMS solution to integrate with suite, including Fire CAD and ePCR solutions
BROOMFIELD Colo. - In a move that will enable fire departments to streamline operations, ZOLL Data Systems, Inc., a subsidiary of ZOLL Medical Corporation (NasdaqGS: ZOLL), today announced the acquisition of BIO-key International’s fire safety division. BIO-key International develops and delivers advanced identification solutions and information services to both the private sector and government, including law enforcement departments, and public safety agencies.
“The addition of fire Records Management System (RMS) solutions to our RescueNet suite strengthens the value of our recently announced RescueNet CommCAD incident-based CAD. This is a continuation of our strategy to offer best-of-breed solutions to our customers and to offer a total solution for one-stop shopping,” said David Brown, President of ZOLL Data Systems.
The new RescueNet FireRMS is an NFIRS-compliant Fire Records Management System (FRMS) specifically designed to streamline reporting and dramatically cut report completion time for front-line personnel. It makes it easier to track incidents, fire prevention records, pre-planning for emergency response, equipment, scheduling, training and certifications.
“Given the significant overlap of fire and EMS, we see this as an evolutionary step to bring the same RescueNet concept to the fire industry that has provided great value over the years to our EMS customers. Our trip-based CAD, RescueNet Dispatch, is ideally suited to the unique needs of our private and hospital-based EMS customers. The combination of RescueNet FireRMS and RescueNet CommCAD, as well as RescueNet TabletPCR, allows us to provide a complete solution to another part of the EMS industry that meets their unique needs,” Mr. Brown continued.
Agencies, large and small, benefit from having enterprise-class, NFIRS-compliant fire records systems to better manage operations, easily track incidents, and effectively support fire prevention initiatives.
“We believe the products we are acquiring are a comprehensive suite of enterprise-class software solutions that deliver powerful performance for fire and EMS services,” said Jim Potter, Vice President of Marketing at ZOLL Data Systems. “Now, ZOLL Data Systems will extend its knowledge and experience in the fire and EMS industry to integrate this fire RMS solution into its RescueNet suite and deliver a complete solution for fire agencies. We are very excited to have the fire safety division employees join our team and we welcome their customers who will benefit from a unified solution to manage complex business processes.”
