Live power line falls on N.Y. rig during house fire
The utility company arrived to secure the power and remove the line from the apparatus
OSSINING, N.Y. — A firefighter was trapped in the cab of a ladder truck when a live power line fell on it during a house fire Wednesday morning.
LoHud.com reported that crews from New York State Electric and Gas responded to remove the wire. The firefighter was not injured.
"The electric service to the building fell down right on top of the tower ladder, and it was a live wire so we had a driver trapped in the truck," Deputy Fire Chief Frank Sylvester said. "We couldn't move it and we had to be careful moving (hoses) because of the live electric wires."
The fire started in a home under renovation.
One firefighter suffered a minor injury while battling the blaze, according to the report.
It was unclear if the cause, while under investigation, was related to the renovation.
