FAIRFIED, Calif. — After suffering cardiac arrest last week, Ryan Hughes, a 33-year-old firefighter-paramedic, is continuing down his road to recovery.

Hughes collapsed at the scene of a structure fire last Thursday, according to The Reporter. His colleagues performed life-saving measures and CPR before he was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was listed as being in critical condition.

“Due to quick actions on scene by Ryan’s fellow Fairfield firefighters and Medic Ambulance personnel, Ryan was given the best possible chance of survival once he arrived at North Bay Medical Center,” officials from the Fairfield department said in a press release.
