Cover the span of the roof

Roof ladders help spread the weight of the firefighter and provide a work platform for equipment and footing use. The key is to have the roof ladder cover the span of the roof.

If the roof ladder does not cover the span of the roof, the effectiveness of it diminishes. If this happens, reconsider the operation and use an aerial for roof operations.
