Firefighters rescue family after car slams into building
Crews had to use a ladder to help evacuate the family, including three children, from a second-story window

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Firefighters had to use a ladder to help a family of five who were trapped in their east Charlotte home after a car crashed into the abandoned laundromat directly below where they live.
The crash happened around 2:45 a.m. on Farm Pond Lane when police said the driver of the car crashed through the side of the building, damaging the staircase and stranding the family on the floor above.
Rescue crews arrived and had to use a ladder to help evacuate the family, including three children, from a second-story window.
