How to reposition a ground ladder
By Mark van der Feyst
Sometimes a ground ladder that was raised into position at one spot will need to be moved to another spot at the same height, such as with second story windows of a house or row apartments.
Instead of carrying the ladder in an upright position that requires two firefighters to execute, roll the ladder from one position to another using the wall as a support. This allows one firefighter to complete this task and frees up another firefighter for other tasks.
When rolling a ground ladder, have your feet in a wide stance. This ensures that your feet will not get caught in the butt spurs of the ladder and become tangled or tripped.
