Del. FFs rescue injured worker from energy company site

The contractor became trapped and had to be lowered from a tower by fire crews

WILMINGTON, Del. — Firefighters rescued an injured worker from a Delaware energy company site on Friday morning.

The man, a contractor who was working at a Calpine Corporation facility, became trapped and had to be lowered to safety on a stretcher using a ladder and rope, according to NBC10.

The rescue operation lasted about 45 minutes, during which time the injured worker was conscious and alert.

The structure the man was lowered from was identified as a cooling tower by the Wilmington Fire Department, which assisted the Brandywine Fire Company with the rescue.

The extent of the man’s injuries and how he became trapped were not reported.
