VICTORIA, Texas — A Victoria Fire Department ambulance was involved in a collision Thursday evening before crashing into a pond, leading the three firefighters inside the rig to swim to safety, according to the Victoria Police Department.
The ambulance and a Chevrolet Traverse crashed at an intersection, causing the rig to go through a field and into a pond.
The police department said the Traverse driver did not yield the right of way.
The three firefighters made it out of the rig and rendered aid to the other vehicle’s occupants.
All five people involved were transported to a hospital to be treated for their injuries. The occupants of the Traverse were reportedly seriously injured.
