Firefighting saws: Easier cold-starting

Tips

By Mark van der Feyst

Most power saws have a decompression valve that allows the saw to start easier. On the Cutters Edge saws, it is the blue button on the side. This little valve allows the air trapped inside the cylinder housing to be exhausted when trying to start the saw when it is cold. This allows the cylinder to move easier when you pull the pull chord.
