LAKEWOOD, Colo. — An abandoned storage facility in Lakewood that caught fire Tuesday morning was being used by people experiencing homelessness as a shelter, West Metro Fire Rescue officials said.

The fire was reported about 10 a.m. It was at the corner of 13th Avenue and Depew Street, according to the fire department.

Fire department officials later said the fire was human-caused, and old tires and lumber shelves were fuel for the fire.

No injuries were reported, and the fire was contained to the single property.
