WEBSTER, Mass. — Firefighter Paul Cloutier, 52, died suddenly Tuesday while preparing to respond to a call, according to Webster Fire/Rescue.

Cloutier had served with Webster Fire/Rescue since March 2021 and was assigned to Group 1.

He also served as a volunteer firefighter for the Muddy Brook Fire Department in Woodstock, Connecticut, where he lived, serving as a lieutenant and president.

The Muddy Brook Fire Department described him as an avid SCUBA diver.

Both departments expressed condolences to Cloutier’s family and asked for prayers.

“As a firefighter and a friend, Paul was a deeply valued member of our team and always ready to answer a call for help,” the Webster department said in a Facebook post.
